The core of the technology is the Bionas® metabolic chip SC1000. The chip includes sensors for measuring dynamic changes of acidification activity and oxygen consumption and for monitoring cell impedance / adhesion.

  • Ion sensitive field effect transistors, or short: ISFET are used to measure acidification rates.
  • Modified Clark-type sensors measure the oxygen consumption of cells in the medium.
  • Interdigitated electrode structures, or short: IDES sensors are continuously monitoring cell impedance.

Cells of any origin and species, including tissue slices of up to 0.5 mm thickness, can be placed directly on the sensor surface of the Bionas® metabolic chip SC1000. The Bionas®  analyzing system has a patented automatic fluidics device, which supplies the cells at regular, programmable intervals with fresh medium or medium containing test substances according to the individual test protocol.
The Bionas®  analyzing system is equipped with a control and analyzing software enabling the user to directly control the experimental set up. Recorded data are visualized in real time and the auto-sampler allows automatic and unattended running of the measurement sequence of up to several days.

The Bionas®  analyzing system are available with one, two or six independent sensor chips.

The technology’s superiority and versatility is illustrated by several publications.
